Laser tattoo removal at Puttur Skin Clinic

Treatment with a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is available at our clinic in Bolwar, Puttur. A consultation with the dermatologist comes first, and he decides whether and how to treat.

Consulting dermatologist: Dr. Sachin Manohar Shetty, M.B.B.S., M.D., iFAAD

How laser tattoo removal works

Tattoo ink sits in the deeper layers of the skin. The ink particles are large, and the body's immune cells cannot easily clear them, which is why a tattoo stays.

The Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser delivers very short pulses of light that the ink absorbs. Over a course of sessions, the ink is broken into smaller particles that the body can gradually clear.

The number of sessions depends on the size, colour, depth and age of the tattoo, and on your skin. Some tattoos or colours may not clear completely.

Things to know before you decide

As with any medical procedure, laser tattoo removal has risks. These can include temporary redness, swelling, blistering or scabbing, and changes in skin colour. Scarring is uncommon but possible. Results vary from person to person, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed. The dermatologist explains the risks that apply to you at the consultation.
